ACEVO and Voice4 Change England are proud to launch Home Truths 2 to drive anti-racist practice in civil society.
Home Truths 2 is an ambitious 18-month programme of activity from ACEVO and Voice4Change England, in collaboration with Dr Sanjiv Lingayah, to help to convert positive attention and intent from civil society into serious action on anti-racism and race equity.
It builds on the findings of the Home Truths report launched in 2020 which concluded that civil society did not simply have a diversity problem, it had a racism problem.
The £120,000 funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, together with funding from Barrow Cadbury Trust, Charities Aid Foundation, John Ellerman Foundation and Paul Hamlyn Foundation will see the Home Truths 2 project work with stakeholders in civil society organisations to take part in activity which seeks to move forward with positive action on anti-racism.
The National Lottery Community Fund takes an equity-based approach to its work, investing most in places, people and communities experiencing poverty, disadvantage and discrimination.
The activity within Home Truths 2 includes a survey to learn about the experience of those communities affected by racism in mainstream civil society, uncovering patterns of racism as well as the solutions that respondents think are advancing race equity in organisations.
Later in the autumn, the Home Truths 2 team will start recruitment for the ‘Further, Faster’ cohort of around 50 civil society leaders who are already taking substantive action towards race equity in their organisations. They will be invited to participate in a year of facilitated small group work, elevating and sharing their race equity practice and helping to demonstrate what ambitious action can look like.
